Pain around insulin fill spot on pod?

Has anyone else experienced pain around the edges of the pod, not near the cannula? I am a little over a month in on the Omnipod and I’m on the new system. I have noticed that occasionally I get a sore spot around the pod. Through some poking and prodding I’ve notice it’s always on the corner where the insulin went into the pod, the opposite end than the cannula insertion. The pod change I made yesterday is now the 3rd time it’s happened. The first one actually had a small sore where the irritation was when I did a pod change. Anyone have any similar experiences?

If I am understanding correctly, I have had that happen as well. It's an irritation from the pod rubbing or resting on the skin, perhaps. For me it happens toward the end of my 3 days, usually when I place the pod on my side. Putting a bandaid under the pod, over the sore spot, solves it for me and I have thought that I might do it proactively when I use those sites. I still have the old pods....maybe the new ones don't allow for this?

I’m not sure. Mine usually starts happening within a few hours of having it in the new spot. It has happen on my thigh, hip and now butt. And always on the same corner of the pod. If I push on the pod, it almost feels like a tiny needle is digging into my skin but when I feel around underneath that side of the pod, it’s completely smooth. I don’t get it!

Wel, try the bandaid. We may never solve the mystery!

maybe sensitivity to the insulin that is left at fill up on the outside of pod?

"Ghost pains" are common on medical devices. I occasionally get strange sensations around my pod, but they go away eventually.

I agree with Hank and suspect that it is a small amount of insulin residing around the fill location on the outside of the pump when you fill it.

I have had some issues actually getting the fill needle into that tiny hole and have 'spilled' a drop or so of insulin there in the past. I know any time I get raw insulin on the surface of my skin I end up with an irritation there. That is one of the reasons that I started the post regarding what changes folks might want or like to see. I guess I need to restart that thread with a slightly different title and hope that folks might give it some real attention. In my particular case, I would like to see the fill location have a larger filling hole, one to match the size of the colored pad that covers the fill spot. Right now, from my experience, it appears that 50% of that colored pad is outside of the actual hole that is the target for the needle. I have bent a couple fill needles attempting to hit the center. It is hard to see, and it is on that top outside corner which makes it difficult to hit. If it was centered at the top edge, say they changed the shape of the reservoir to a pointed cone shape or something.

Anyway, that is my 2cents... unfortunately they are pennies created since the 1980's meaning they don't even hold a true pennies worth of copper any more.
