I know I haven't been on in a while, I'm not very good at confrontational things. ^^; My diabetes has slowly been getting back on track. I've been using the mySugr app to get a better grip. But now, last week, my boyfriend broke up with me, after 5 years and less than a week together. I knew it wasn't a perfect relationship, and in hindsight maybe this is for the best, but I didn't expect it at all. So I'm struggling with the shock, and ofc this isn't doing my glucose levels a lot of good.
And on the other hand, the prospect of being alone with my diabetes freaks me the hell out. In the past week I've considered getting a tattoo saying Type 1 DM, but I managed to calm myself down a little ;)and settle for a medic alert bracelet for which I can make interchangeable bracelets.
I really need to turn to this community more because I've been freaking myself out. Also, thanks for the birthday wishes!
Welcome back :) Stress almost always affects our sugar level So sorry to hear about the break up.
There's a group here called Living Alone with Diabetes. They may also give you some tips on giving you self confidence managing diabetes alone. In any case, a medic alert bracelet is also a very good idea.
I'm sorry about your break up, that sucks. I hope you can get your glucose levels back to normal soon. I think a bracelet sounds like a great idea. I have two bracelets and a necklace now. :)
thanks guys, I have a necklace, but I keep forgetting to wear it. I've decided to get a bracelet for the time being, but I'm going to start designing a tattoo. I have a friend who's a graphic artist/tattooist in training, so I'm going to take my time to think of something that fits me.
