Ping Replacement

On Wednesday evening, I tested, then tried to bolus. My meter said I hadn’t tested in 15 minutes. Hmmm. Shut it off, turned it back on and everything worked fine.

On Thursday morning, the same thing happened.

I called Animas. The rep was familiar with the problem, offered to send another one but we decided I’d keep an eye on it and call if it happened again.

Tonight, it did it again.

On Monday I’ll get a new pump and meter.

I’ve only been using it for 12 days.

Hope everyone in the snowy places stays warm tomorrow. I don’t think the snow is going to get to us, this time.

Hi there I am using the ping and I love mine…hope your new one lasts longer…lol

I’ve had a similar problem with the Ping meter…and have been resolving it by going all the way “back” to the initial screen you see when you first activate the Ping (by pressing the up or down arrow), and THEN going to the “bolus” menu. When I do this, the meter will then “see” the BG reading I just took, and calculate a bolus for carbs or BG reading correctly.

I know I can work around it (didn’t try going backwards though), but I don’t feel I should have to. So, new pump and meter for me.

Aren’t Animas great with helping out? I don’t use the Ping (it’s only arrived in Canada this fall) - but I have an Animas 2020 - that was giving me some probs over holidays - and bing, bang, boom - I’ve now got the vacation loaner to keep - it’s all pretty / unscratched / new (born this year according to the manufacture date). I’m calling my new pump Salvador Dali - previous one was Antonio - you can read about him here.
