Hi, I’m having trouble getting set up for the Pump Download. I installed the EzManager software, and plugged the IR wireless interface in and set the pump on Suspend while disconnected from my body. I’ve followed all of the steps but when it comes to scanning the program (ezmanager) says they can’t find the pump. Arrrrg! LOL, any ideas or suggestions?
glad I’m not alone, but yes hopefully we can get an answer. If not today then tomorrow 8:00-8:00 EST You know I’ll be calling ext 2400 for some tech support
you have to make sure the pump doesn’t fall asleep (screen goes black) or else it messes it all up.
What I do is keep pressing buttons while its scans. Now that I know what port my pump is on, I usually select that port, instead of scan all ports in the drop down menu
Make sure the IR port on the pump is lined up with the receiver. You should see the receiver blink when it is. I actually prefer Diasend, have you tried that instead of EZManager?
I also use the Diasend website to upload my pump. My doc’s office can see my information when they want to. She knows I upload my pump every Sunday night. I never could figure out EZManager.
wow thanks for the info on Diasend, I just set it up and was surprised at all the information it holds. WOW I’ve never seen my insulin, carbs, blood sugars etc… graphed out like that before. I’ll have to make sure I’m being good, since my Diabetes Team can view it now LOL.
DON’T “scan” for ports. Choose (click on) the highest port number you see from the drop down list when you click on the two headed arrow next to “scan all ports”. Then, as others have suggested, make sure your pump is suspended, and “awake” before you click the “start” button to begin the download.
I installed it and ran it on my Mac no problems at all. There was a new step where you have to click on a separate install program to install the drivers for the thing you need to point at the pump. (I just received my pump and software, so this might be new) I just clicked on Scan all ports and it worked fine for me. I’m even using the latest OS 10.6.8
This is the dumbest interface I have ever encountered. The rep gave me a holder that keeps the device properly aligned. It improved things a lot but still I have problems with it. Very bad design!

I believe the Animas pump is the best on the market today, but the fact that we need to use IR I/O technology is REALLY too antiquated for today’s users. Animas NEEDS to come into the 21 century and use wireless (either bluetooth or ANT) to make it simpler to move our data!
I think they made a bad compromise in the waterproof design. There are much better ways to do this - RF being the best. Why they chose IR - a very old technique - is beyond my ken.
I actually just had them replace the dongle as well as my pump since I was unable to download using my MacBook and at my CDE’s office. However I still can’t download the replacement pump to my MacBook. I was told that I have too new a version of Mac OS for EZ Manager so I’m using Diasend and still nothing. Very frustrating. I’m hoping at my next appointment in two weeks that my CDE will at least have success.
The issues we all are experiencing is how difficult it is to TRANSMIT the data from our pump to our computers to review the data. I know Animas is working on a wireless version of their pump, but needs to deal with two major issues -
Keeping pump waterproof is an issue that makes wireless transfers hard;
2 Getting it approved by the FDA is harder.
I believe the simplest, short term solution would be for Animas to build a small Stand that we could clip our pump into so the IR communication IO is preciously aligned and the “stand” could transfer the data either through USB or, better, wirelessly to my computer and / or smartphone. This is not very difficult, heck, my son could build this over a weekend. I think it just an indication of how little Animas thinks of our NEED to review our data - they need to hear from all of us on this subject. Ease of access to this data would improve all of our understanding of how well we are controlling our diabetes. No pump company makes this analysis easy - but it is coming. Check out a company called CellNovo - the iPhone of Pumps! It is not yet FDA approved, but when it is, we will all be much better in control of our diabetes! www.cellnovo.com MUCH BETTER than the feeble MyMedtronic Connect product…
Gary,
I do have a stand that my IR thingy sits in when I’m uploading the pump data into the Diasend program. You are right, it keeps it aligned while the transfer is taking place and is much better then when I had to “balance” it up against something. I, like Laura, believe that the Diasend program is much easier than EZ Manager program.
