I use the Mio infusion sets (shorter needle), recently switched from the Silhoutte sets. Are there any sites I should avoid or make use of during pregnancy? I just stuck myself in the abdomen, 3 inches towards the center from my hip, and it kind of hurt! Not sure if I'm more sensitive in that area, or still getting used to the needle at the 90-degree angle.
Pumpers: Have your infusion sites changed during pregnancy? Have you changed the type you use or prefer, or find most effective?
I never really liked using my abdomen. So I didn't use it during pregnancy either. My favorite sites are upper butt, thighs, and lower back ("love handles").
There was a discussion about this awhile back--check back in the older discussions.
I continued to use my abdomen for maybe the first half of pregnancy, but then it just got too tight, so I used my upper butt/hip and love handles. I tried my thigh once but my bg skyrocketed, so I never tried again.
I use silhouettes. I used to use 90-degree angle ones (quick-set?), but I don't have a lot of subcutaneous fat, especially on my abdomen, so the silhouettes work a lot better for me.
I used my thighs for my pump and my rear for my cgm. I did switch the pump site to my abdomen...I should say love handles...in the last trimester since my thighs are getting swollen from using the same spot all the time. I was worried about using my stomach, but it turned out just fine.
