I’m glad to hear that, Dave. No, it is injected insulin.
Thank you for your kind response. My arm pain was minor this time- similar to what I’ve experience with other vaccines in the past. Maybe it was just a bad injection the first time.
I did feel unwell about 24 hours after getting the second dose, but that only lasted around 10 hours or so before I fell asleep and woke up the next day feeling better.
I’m grateful for the vaccines and am eager for my husband to be eligible for a vaccine so life can start transitioning toward normality. I’m resentful that he isn’t eligible yet since he has had to continue going in to work during the pandemic in an emotionally challenging environment. His work environment is relatively low risk, but I still worry with the potential surge from B117 looming.
I hope your second dose goes better.
I got my second Pfizer shot on Wednesday. After my first shot, I had a sore arm, lethargy, and a persistent headache for two days. Also, my blood sugars were a bit elevated.
The reaction to my second shot was milder. I had a (very) sore arm (still is a bit sore, actually). Other than that I had a headache for about half a day but not much more than that. My blood sugars have been normal.
First dose of Pfizer I received back on March 9th. No symptoms whatsoever. My arm was a bit tight but nothing major it was just like a flu shot. Sugars never went up or anything. I got second dose this last Tuesday and that one was different. My endo is type 1 as well am I and she said it would be about 12 hours after shot that symptoms may appear. She was dead in, I started feeling hazy and my thighs were on fire it felt like. I was really stiff and I slept until almost noon the next day. I had a headache too. Bit by Wednesday afternoon I was completely fine. Basically just mild flu symptoms for about ten or so hours.
I had my 2nd dose of Pfizer nearly 2 weeks ago now. I had no reactions to either shot whatsoever. My arm was a bit sore but no worse than the annual flu shot. No change in blood sugar either. I’m type 1 and on the Medtronic 670 w/CGM.
Have you signed up for CDC V-safe program? They are collecting data on reactions to the vaccines.
Just got my 1st Pfizer 3/30/21 (4 days ago), had no problem, only sore at injection site for 1.5 days, like a flu shot. Type 1 since 1993, 670g Pump and G6 Sensors, last A1c 7.1.
Got my 2nd Pfizer a few days ago and other than a sore arm no side effects, much less than the first shot.
Thanks for weighing in on this.
Thank you. I wish I had been so lucky.
I had the first dose of Pfizer two weeks ago and my reaction was different. For the first 24 hours especially, and even for the next 2 or 3 days, I had problems with LOW blood sugars. I found I had to be VERY careful and take significantly less insulin over that period. At least I will be prepared if this happens again with the second dose. I had no other effects/reactions whatsoever.
I had no reaction at all from my first Pfizer shot and only a mild 6-8 hour reaction to the second.I have had IDDM since 1983 and am presently on a pump and CGM. My sugars did not spike at all after either shot. Dave Gilmour, MD Oregon
I had the first Pfizer on Wednesday. Injection site on arm was just very slightly sore for a couple days. If anything my bg’s a little lower than normal for the days after.
I hear the 2nd Pfizer shot often produces more obvious flu like symptoms. Looking forward to it! Looking forward to getting the world back to normal.
The world will most likely never get back to what we used to consider as normal, but hopefully the new normal will be much better than what we have now and may even protect us better from annual flus’ than before. For those of us that travel internationally much of the year, I am sure there will be a whole new set of disciplines to master to keep ourselves and our hosts healthy.
As a nation, the US population is not very good at accepting what other countries view as normal, so I am sure for many US citizens the new international normal will come with a large dose of culture shock.
Right now, for example, the only acceptable COVID vaccine allowing passengers to enter into China without a 2 week quarantine is a Chinese vaccine and nobody, including the Chinese folks I know want to take the Chinese vaccine.
Thanks for responding, Dave. I wonder what factors caused my very strong reaction.
I had covid December. First shot felt good until the evening. Then I had horrible body aches, hot and cold flashes, and high blood sugars. Lasted a couple days. Had my 2nd shot last week…that evening I had freezing chills and bad body aches. Better by the morning. That 2nd evening I had chills agin for a couple hours and then that was it.
Sue,
Two possibilities: 1) Your immune system was really primed and responded quickly to that first shot, or 2) you may have had an allergic reaction to the vaccine or one of its components. I suggest that you discuss this with your doctor to see whether or not it is safe for you to receive the second dose.
Oops. Sorry that I didn’t see that you had a second shot. My impression: vigorous immune response, which is a good thing since it means that you will be come very immune to Covid19.
Thanks. I’m going to discuss with my dr, Never been allergic to anything before.
Thank you, Sam. Not fair at all. Green eggs and ham muh nicer.
I had both doses, No effect on BG… Zero side effects first dose. Mild sore arm second one. Gone next morning
