It just occurred to me that if every TuDiabetes member donated just $1 to the latest TuDiabetes campaign, that the organization would be at $21,147 – over goal! But, going a little further if everyone would just donate $5, it would be at $105,735! – And at $10 – $211,470! TuDiabetes has become such an important community for so many of us. It’s still such a new community. We have barely started to realize what this community can do together in the way of support, information, and advocacy. Funding is needed for the organization to continue and grow. Let’s pull together as a community with the goal of surpassing the $15,000 goal as soon as possible.
Or we can all donate $100 each to Dr Faustman and hopefully shut down the site altogether. Nothing would be greater in my mind then to see every diabetic forum vanish.
I agree Donna! I certainly know money is tight for most of us, but I also know that most of us could find $5 or $10 in our budget once a year to help keep TuDiabetes going. TuDiabetes has been a life saver for not only me but others here. I would like to keep it here so that anyone that needs help has a place to turn to with people that understand everything they are going thru.
Thanks TuDiabetes, Manny, and all of you who are making this website, this lifeline, possible. You are helping countless people, thus affecting countless lives. Echoing Donna H, the information made available here is instrumental in saving lives. The friendly, supportive atmosphere is appreciated by us all. A check is in the mail.
Donna I am 84 years old. I am on a fixed income. This site saved my life. I donated $400 . $1 from everyone should not be a hardship. It just depends what your priorities are. Reed
Gary,
I too live with this disease. I would love to see DHF shut down the day there is no longer the need for what we do.
Having heard many, many experts about how complex getting to the cure is (and the fact that it -sadly- is not 5 years away), in the meantime we continue to need support and access to information from others like ourselves.
Having said all this, if I may, I encourage EVERYONE to donate what they can to the groups they feel most strongly about… and I hope DHF would be one of those!
Reed,
Two words:
YOU ROCK!!!
Thank you SO much, not only for your donation, but for ALL you do or the community every single day.
Thank you, Trudy!
Here’s another incentive:
Donate $50+ to support TuDiabetes and get an autographed copy of “The Smart Woman’s Guide to Diabetes” http://ning.it/pLb7Cr
I believe there could be a treatment available in the next 5 years but our system is corrupt. If everyone was on our side including the FDA something tells me we’d see something. Personally I think it should be up to an individual themselves to choose whether they want to try a new treatment not the FDA. It’s my life and I should have the right to a treatment approval or not. FWIW I can send in a few bucks if you take paypal.
OR …just view it as membership dues ?
Yes, you can donate with PayPal – there is a link right on the donation page.
Yes! People, please give! I want DHF/TuDiabetes to be around as long as we need them (ie until a cure is found).
Thanks Reed! You are wonderful!
I just wanted to bump this up to the top hoping more people will see it if they weren’t online over the weekend. There are only 2 days left and the amount raised is not even at the halfway mark. I know TuDiabetes is very important to a lot of us.
Thanks Kelly – GMTA – I came on to do the same thing! Gotta keep it on top!
2 days to go and not half way. WE CAN DO THIS!!!
Hi Reed, I commented on your blog post but will reply here too for all to see and be inspired. To honor Reed, i have donated $1000 to TuD site as it has saved countless lives, including my own. I challenge everyone who hasn’t donated to skip a coffee or two, skip a movie until next month, anything at all, send in $5. I’m not rich, I just lost my car this year and insurance gave me a measly $5k to replace it (which ain’t going to buy you anything fancy these days…), just recently moved again, need to re-roof my house next, times are tough. But if i can do this i know you all can too! Just $5! That’s a small handful of recycled cans even! But if you can’t, that’s ok too. I would hope everyone here feels welcome no matter what. Thanks for being here with us Reed.
Thank you so much! Really…
Driving this up to the top – one day left!!!
Between JDRF and Dr Faustman and other organizations - lots of entities are asking for a piece of My Diabetes donation pie.
I’m not around here very often and havent read all the various posts but the one question that I havent seen answered is - what is the money for ? There are really 2 pieces to the question. 1 what is the money used for ? 2 Is it really being used for that ?
http://www.charitynavigator.org doesnt have an entry for the DHF so its not possible to see what % of the $$ is used for the as yet unstated reason.
In my google search about DHF I found that they have relationships with JDRF and some big corporations, do we assume that no $$ changes hands there ?
I know that these questions may not be received well - But I always want to know who Im considering sending money to. And I bet Im not the only one…
