After what felt like hundreds of NSTs, hours on the phone with the nurse from my endocrinologist, 10 ultrasounds, and 19 hours of induced labor, my perfect(ly healthy) baby boy arrived!
I stressed a lot during my pregnancy about being diabetic, and I had outstanding prenatal care and during delivery. I had zero complications (with the exception of induction and a few interventions during the delivery). Now my mind has totally redirected to focus on the baby. My BG control is not quite as tight and diabetes seems like "not such a big deal." It's a little bit of diabetes burnout, but also just being able to see the big picture, be thankful for my health, and not beat myself up over every BG number that's not in range.
If you are expecting for the first time, hang in there! It will all be worth it!
