Hi all, toying around with my Temp Basal (and new at it) and have some questions:
A. I was trying to set up a temp basal for 24 hours and notice it would only let me go to 12 hours. Is this true?? I do know I can set up basal programs, but like the simplicity of just setting a temp basal. My endo on a tubed pump says she can set hers for 24 hours....
B. When I do set any temp basal, I get a beep consistently throughout the day--I'm assuming when the basal is delivered. I don't get this when no temp basal is set. Can I turn this off? I don't need excessive beeping in my life!! :)
I believe that you can only set it for 12 hours (it’s not really temp if it’s more than that I would think…). The pod will beep every 1/2 hour while on a temp basal to remind you that something is different. As far as I know there is no way to turn this off.
Mine beeps too. I had a 12 hour +70% temp basal (got a cold, lol) and it beeped at me. I didn’t notice it after the first time though, and no one in the school heard it during MCT testing, so it’s pretty discreet… kinda like a watch.
This is my understanding - Your pod will switch to the delivery of the temp. basal immediately. However, until 1 - 2 hours AFTER setting the basal, you have insulin on board from your previous basal, so the effects of the basal won’t happen until that time. Clear as mud?
That’s odd - my son had a really “high” day the other day and so was running a temp basal for almost the entire day, but I never remember it beeping. Maybe we all just tuned it out?
Haha. I think you did. Luckily it’s just one beep, nothing like the wretched reminder beep patterns. They seem to always catch me when I’ve got my hands full and I sort of despise those alarms That said, i love my pod!!
