What was your funniest experience as someone with diabetes?
Well…I’ll get it started…one funny moment (well, funny now!) had to be the time when I couldn’t wrap myself around a simple grade 4 math problem! I had to make up an excuse and get back to it later!
I went over the handle bars of my bike, while low ( don’t ask me what I was doing on the bike ), in front of a crowd of students.
Ouch! (and I’m talking about your pride!!)
Hey…Welcome to the rabble Josephine!
I’m here but I don’t know what to say right now. And for those who know me, don’t fall off your chair laughing!!!
There are sooooo many things wrong with me, I’m sure the insurance company must have put a contract out on my head!! :o(

Hey…don’t know if I ever mentioned anywhere else about the time this pharmacist was going to slap on taxes to Dextrose tablets because they were flavoured! I kid you not!..Where did you say those plain ones were again? lol
many many moons ago, back in the days of animal based insulin, I became ALERGIC to insulin…
You should have seen the faces when asked if I had any alergies and had to tell thim I was alergic to insulin…(then I had to explain what insulins I could and could not use) Not so funny when I ahd my alergic reaction, but now it seems quite funny…
(*&( GOMER.
Before I used the pump I had to take shots 5 times a day. I work at the home improvement store Lowes. I was in the bathroom taking a shot at the baby changing table and three non-English speaking construction workers (Mexican) came in to use the bathroom. They looked at me with a syringe in my hand and freaked out. They turned and RAN out the door. I guess they thought I was a junkie or something.
I use the omnipod and have to stick the pod to my lower back near the side, just above my hips. Well, I am part wolf from the neck down. Every inch of my body is covered with alot of hair. So I got a cordless electric razor so I can reach around and shave the area of my back so I can stick the pod on. Now I have two bald spots on my lower back on both sides. I’m wondering if I should draw alien eyeballs on those spots so I can lift my shirt up to people and flash them my ET eyes. LOL
Oh Ronny…TOO TOO FUNNY *sniff *…I showed my husband and we died (well…not quite) laughing!!!
Linda, I’ve wanted to draw a creepy looking bug on my omnipod Pod with big eyes and maybe some legs and teeth. Then walk into Walmart and lift up my shirt and point behind me and scream, “Get it OFF me it’s eating me alive!!!”
With my luck I’d end up on the website People Of Walmart.
True…you don’t want to go there!!! Also, in the flash of the moment, someone might actually believe it’s some monstrous bug, and totally but totally freak out!!! Then how would you feel!!!
I think I’m supposed to answer with some compassionate response like… I would feel so ashamed.
But inside I would be laughing. It’s a guy thing, don’t try to understand LOL
Oh…I do!! Work with men, married, have a son, son-in-law, brothers…besides, we TOO can have a quirky sense of humour!!
I’ve been married to my husband for 32 years. My MIL has never really liked me, nor appreciated me. I figured after giving her two heirs to the throne (sons) that a difference would occur. But I took her best friend, my husband, away from her…so we haven’t really talked in those 32 years. The day of my father’s funeral, we left our dogs at her house during the services, I went to pick them up, and she had “tea” and cookies sitting on the table, and asked if I would come in and sit for awhile.??? She had been diagnosed with diabetes 2 days prior and wanted to pick my brain, at that time a 9 year diabetic about what she should do. Her doc offered NO education, no answers, just pills. It was hysterical that this disease would be the thing that would start us talking, who would have guessed. Now she calls or e-mails me things all the time for answers and questions and just to share. She will be starting byetta shots soon, and isn’t sure she can do it, my gosh, that’s me…omg I’ve become my mil.
God works in mysterious ways!!!
Linda is right. God allowed her the opportunity to become close to you and she chose not to. So God lead her to you in His way and in His own time. And it worked. God is good.
