How is everyone’s Turkey going?!? I woke up to a nice overnight graph and hope to keep the numbers from getting gobbled up today!! I was thinking if any of us needed a landing spot today… we could use this thread to share our day, the T Day highs and lows…
Have a beautiful day everyone!
That’s one sweet line, @cynthia_rogers. Especially with that 83 Bernstein exclamation point at the end!
I have a tentative plan to eat a light late breakfast today followed by an 3-4 mile afternoon walk and a 5:00 p.m. holiday dinner. Let the games begin!
Well, I plan to fast until we eat, some time around 1400. So it should be pretty flat until the food bomb goes off. We’ll see what happens then.
@Terry4 @David_dns cheers to hoping it continues… so far so good! We’re doing seafood night so maybe there’s a chance! Lol!!
Oink
i did ok, I got up to 135 but lived most of the day below 100.
1.5 hour bike ride this morning pre-food orgy helped a bit. Peaked out at about 208 after dinner and yup, I had a wee bit of ice cream and a few bites of pumpkin pie, plus y’know, yams, cranberry sauce, so that’s not too shabby! Mostly shear guesswork as usual, semi-informed, because it’s just about impossible to really carb-count accurately for this kind of day. Just tested pre-bedtime and I’m down to 140. No down arrows on Dexcom but I’m guessing I’ll probably get a low warning around 2-3 a.m. at 60’ish, though it’s not impossible I’ll get a soft landing. You never know–it could happen!
Great success… before dinner the meter clocked in at 77. 2 hours later 76. The diabetes gods smiled upon me today.
That is both hilarious and totally me right now!!
I thought I was ok, got as high as 155 last night and then this morning went from about 150 at 6am to 257 at 7, bolused and went back to sleep until 8. I guess I was up most of the night. I guess the stress got me.
I think I forgot to take into account all the fat in the meal and went high about 5 am. Corrected with Afrezza (have been hoarding my samples for Thanksgiving) and eventually went back to sleep. Sigh…
Well… not as good as I’d have hoped. Couldn’t get any exercise in before or after dinner (visiting my mom in the hospital hss been defining my days lately). At least it wan’t as BAD as it could have been, though - but has a long-lasting overnight spike:
(The blue was to replace a period of signal loss).
As I said, could certainly have been worse.
Made it through the day without going over 100 mg/dL, mostly because my awesome wife cooked a ton of low-carb Thanksgiving options. Turkey, low-carb stuffing (OK), low-carb mashed cauliflower bake (better than mashed potatoes!), brussel sprouts and turnips as a side dish (great), low-carb gravy (myeh), and then a very low-carb “chocolate silk pie” I made myself (not great). Still need to work on the alternative desserts.
So yesterday was great! Blew out my carb-budget this morning by overindulging in peanuts though, so tonight’s leftover extravaganza is going to be slim pickings for this PWD…
Peanuts probably won’t spike you much… they’re a different sort of carb… you can cheat your budget with peanuts
They do, unfortunately, spike me. Not to an extent you’d likely care about, but I’m taking it easy the rest of the day on carbs My BG and dietary targets are pretty narrow; likely far more narrow than most people would bother with.
Love the puff!
Look at that flat line though! The spike looks like it came back in for a safe landing. Thoughts to you and your mom…
