Victory is sweet!

Just got back the results of my second A1c, and I am so happy!! I was diagnosed with type 1 a little over two months ago with an A1c of 12.3, and my test results showed it’s at 6.8 now! I’d like to get it lower, but this is definitely a start! Meeting with my CDE next week, and I will be pestering her about a pump, which I know will only help me lower that number even more.

I’ve been struggling to deal with the emotional side of this disease, but today I feel victorious!!!

FANTASTIC!!! WOOOOOOOOO!!! Enjoy your accomplishment!

You should feel victorious! You face a formidable foe and turned the course of your diabetes in your favor. I enjoy and celebrate my diabetes victories because that keeps me motivated for the long haul. Good luck with your continued success.

It’s more than a “start”. You cut it nearly in half in just two months! That is major league. Victorious indeed!

And we ALL struggle with the emotional side, whether it’s been 2 months or 20 years. Keep fighting the good fight, you’re on a roll. Congrats. :sunglasses:

Fantastic! Not to mention you must have so much more energy now! Some fine-tuning will get you where you want to be. Pumps are awesome and you should totally look into them. However, keep in mind that you may still be in what they call the “honeymoon period” for the next few months to a year - not sure why they call it that because erratic insulin is no honeymoon - but you may still be producing some insulin until your remaining beta cells die off. So your doc might suggest you wait that amount of time until you really stabilize, then go for it. Great job on your victory!

Stellar, fantastic, incredible job!!! You should be very proud of yourself for the hard work! Brava!

Thanks everyone! Feels good to be making progress

I was diagnosed almost a month ago. Sounds like you’re on a great path! I had a 12.8 a1c so you give me hope! Congrats to you. Keep on trucking. I finally meet an endo fomorrow and can’t wait. My family and I are extremely active (played sports all my life…camp…hike…hunt) so I want to be healthy to continue.

And I already hate the disease too. Haha. It could be worse though. I hope I can have the same news as you here soon!

Thank you, and good luck at your first endo appointment!

Thank you! It went well. They were amazing and totally open about a CMG and the pump. I think I’ll do the MDI for now and research more but it felt awesome to talk to a doc and nurse that get it. Good luck to you. I’ll let you know my a1c when I get an updated one.
