What does everyone use to carry their diabetes supplies?

Hi everyone I was curious to know what people use to carry all of their diabetes things. I have type 1 for 36 years and I am finally really wanting to keep everything in one location. Any help would be great.

I’m able to keep most of my stuff I need to keep with me in my BG kit. It’s an older one, I think from an Accu-Chek Aviva, but I switched my Nano over to it as I didn’t like the Nano case. I think a Nano case could be altered though to fix what I didn’t like.

It has room inside for my meter, test strips, and sticker as well as a pocket that’s supposed to hold my BG log but which I keep my ID and medical insurance card in. There’s an elastic loop on the outside (which could be added on as they no longer come that way I think), which is the perfect size for a tube of glucose tablets. That gets tucked into my rather small Baggalini purse, which has a couple of elastic loops inside. Those are for pens for most people, but they’re actually big enough for insulin pens.

I also have a couple of Adorn purses, but don’t use them any more. They’re older versions. I had both the Messenger Bag and a shoulder bag version.

Sounds like you have everything set up nicely  thank you for the input. I will mess around with my bg tester and see what I can do.

You’re welcome.

I was curious and went over to look at the Adorn bags. It looks like they haven’t changed the design at all in the last 10 years or so! I really do like them, but due to my back problems I started carrying as small of a bag as possible. I liked them because you could literally fit ALL of your supplies in there, as well as the removable diabetes kit having a small ice pack area to keep insulin cool, which is great when you live in Texas or if you’re traveling. The messenger bag is great if you want to carry your diabetes supplies as well as a laptop, iPad, Kindle, books, or any paperwork to the office and that sort of thing.

myabetic.com has great cases and now some are available at target. i have like 6 cases to match my mood/outfit

I carry my supplies in a cool case that cannot be mentioned here because the automatic filter thinks I’m posting an advertisement and must therefore be banned. I’d tell you what it is and where I got it but the filter will just hide/delete it.

WTH?

The spam filter built into Discourse does an excellent job but occasionally it flags an innocent post. Luckily it does not actually ban any post but rather holds it till an administrator makes the final decision. As you can see I have released your post.

Here is my story in four parts

I use an REI shoulder bag. Not hugely capacious but enough for my meter and a backup reservoir/infusion set, extra strips, glucose tabs etc. It’s designed as hiking gear so it doesn’t look too high-style man-purse-ish, which I appreciate since I’m not trying to make a fashion statement.

That’s it. The less d-crap the better in my mind.

Thank you everyone I have a bunch of great ideas now and I will be checking Target out to see what they have.

Thanks Gary

I don’t gain anything by endorsing a product. I don’t know what I’d do without my little myabetic case. It holds everything I need and noone else knows what’s inside. That’s why I like it so much!

here’s the myabetic website

a lot of active folks like the spibelt

this topic specifically addresses the lack of cases that might appeal to boys

another place for fun pump-centered accessories is

Thank you agian everyone.

  1. Right front pocket - the small Medtronic pump.
  2. Left front pocket - 5 peppermint candies and CGM
  3. Left back pocket - small bag that contains small meter and test strips.
  4. Right back pocket - wallet

LOL thank you for making me laugh and a great way to carry everything.

I second that… If you carry glucose strips make a point of carrying them in a seperate pocket from your meter and such… Glucose tablets generate a lot of glucose dust that gets on everything, you don’t want to be fumbling rubbing your fingers all over a tube of them while trying to dig your meter out of your pocket…

I avoid glucose tabs at all costs:)

I use makeup brush bags. That was one of the first things I did when I was diagnosed: went to Target and bought one. I just wasn’t into carrying around the zip-up thing that came with my meter…too medical. I wanted to have something that felt like a regular accessory. But also held everything that keeps me alive, haha.

I have a lovely, but very sturdy raw silk pouch that my daughter gave me. Holds all I need. Travels really well. I happen to be a Silk Junkie, which my daughter knows. It is lined with a tough cotton poplin. It has been through over a dozen train trips and endless daily chores. The velcro clasp, just this year is pulling loose. But that is easily fixed. She gave it to me in about 2008…
