What is the best type of infusion sets for the Revel?

My daughter is getting ready to go on the pump and we need to decide if she wants the all in on infusion set or the one that the inserter is separate and you always have to put everything in it? I would think the all inclusive is easier than always being sure you have the inserter with you but want to be sure I am not missing something.

The all-inclusive ones (the Mios) are the best (IMO). Very easy to use and I do like the all-in-one aspect because it makes travel way easier (one less thing to have to remember!).

I use the Revel and love it.

Both sets are good. I use them both. Typically I use Quicksets while at home and the Mio when traveling because of the ease of the all in one. The only thing I don’t like about the Mio is the lack of availability of the longer tubing choices. I use the 43" tubing so I have extra when putting sites on my arms etc. I hate the shorter tubing.

That decision is up to your daughter. Since she is getting the Revel, contact Medtronic and get samples of all. Just don't use what they send you unless she likes it. There are many options not only in function, size, color, and canula length, etc. If she's a youngster, buy her stickers for the pump and the inset of her choice. Make fun of it and she'll be special and not out of place. She may want to buy a special holder that suits her taste. Go see: http://shop.cafepress.com/diabetes

There are lots of stuff out on the web. Just remember Laughter is the Best Medicine!

i just received my revel pump last week and will start training on it this week, thursday. my medtronic rep asked a bunch of questions, my weight, height, etc...and decided the Silos would be best for me as I have little body fat..so, we're starting on that one. Your rep should be able to help you..maybe get a couple, as suggested. Good luck!

I also agree with Mike S, get samples of all that is available from MM. What works for me may not work for you (I don't like Mios, do good w/quicksets). MM has been good with sending samples in the past. Good luck on pumping!

Be sure to try the Sure-T's, my favorite. They don't have an inserter. They have a small metal needle that can be moved if necessary without removing the rest of the infusion set.

also, whomever does the pump training for you (your daughter) will also have different infusion sets to try.

I think this is the best option too. I can't speak on what would be good for a child, but I know that for me they put me on one sort of infusion set. I had a fair amount of problems with it too.

I then happened upon a diabetes shop just walking down the street exploring a new neighborhood (I'd moved back to the States from living abroad.) Anyway, this store had another sort of infusion set. I was uninsured at the time and running low on supplies, so I took a chance and bought them. I LOVE THEM.

I chanced upon them and that's probably not the best way to go. Get a sample of all of them and see which works best for your child.

Good luck!
