My was 318 at 11:00pm on night after a large meal and on top of a BG of 203 before that said meal. I was diagnosed one month before my 30 birthday. I did shot for 3 months then got online with my Omnipod. I have been on my pump for 5 month today and am loving it. My last A1C was 6.5 which reflected the first 3 full months on my pod compaired to when I was diagnosed in July of 2008 at 12.3. Just wondering what YOUR high is?
When i waas diagnosed i was at 1348, that has been my record high. Other than that, i have been higher than the meter will read several times. That was over 10 years ago when i wanted to die, now i rarely go over 200. At the time when i wanted to die my a1c’s were between 11.6 and 13.9. Luckly I am living a pretty normal life now with very few complications due to the eratic controll over 10 or so years. Other than having a pancrease on my belt LOL
650 was my high
I recorded a 515 on 1/24/2008 at bedtime. Incidently, in 52 years of insulin dependency I have never had a ketone test.
702, I didn’t know it could go way up even higher. Sometimes the meter wouldn’t read, but I always thought that 40/720 would be the highest we could go before we’d conk out. Well I am learning new things here with ya all every day.
diagnosis in DKA, age 10: over 1000 (don’t know an exact value - that’s just what I was told)
since then: 575
several times after steroidal Rx’s: high 400s, low 500s
I was so high, that the meter just said “HI-Danger” this happened one day after drinking alcohol in college for the first and last time in my life. I got scared straight after that. Since then I won’t touch or go anywhere near alcohol!
I guess I don’t actually know - I was diagnosed with an A1c of 11 which is supposed to be an average of 270. I used to be a chocoholic so maybe I don’t want to know.
My high was 570 after steroids.
I dont remember what I was diagnosed with since I was 6 at the time, but I have seen 500 and then sometime my meter just says HI not knowing what it goes too!
I’ve been a diabetic for goin on 21 years… a little over a year ago i went into the hospital with DKA and when they checked my sugar level it wouldnt even read on their meter (yes i know… i was playin with fire at that point) but, after 30min. and a few units of regular they got it at 748
over 1100 when I was diagnosed
i was dx at 515, that was seven years ago.
other than that i dont remember the exact numbers, but i think i saw HI a couple of times (havent seen it in a long time and hope i dont for the rest of my life)
My highest was like 565, but that was on the night I was diagnosed.
Other then diagnoses(the urine strips said my BG was over 1000, but the ER said 750+…which was more correct, the next morning after all the insulin they gave me I was 399, and then later that afternoon 425), my highest ‘high’ recently, in the last two weeks, has been 370mg/dl. That was right after having my wisdom teeth pulled. Three days later I woke up 321 with moderate-large ketones. I think it was related to the oral surgery.
Since the first week of diagnoses, I have not seen a number above 400. knock on wood
I can’t really remember. Had Type 1 for nearly 30 years. The last highest high was when I was in hospital last autumn having an operation on my frozen shoulder. I was put on the sliding scale the night before the operation and by 5pm the following day and after the operation my BG was running at 25.2mmol/l (approx 453mg/dl). I’d been drinking and ■■■■■■■ so much that afternoon. This was the first time I’d ever been in a hospital for an operation where my BGs were screwed up big time.
I can say I am proud to state that my high was 740. It was right after my father passed away, and I know I was not taking care of myself. I was not on a pump yet. I had just returned to work after his passing. They found me with my head on my desk. I work in a doctor’s office, so they knew something was really wrong. My husband was called, and off to the ER I went. I would not let them call 911. After being examined, and lab work started to return, the ER doc comes in smiling and says, “I know why you feel the way you do…your blood sugar is 740”. Off to ICU I went for a couple of days to have continuous insulin, finger ticks every 15 minutes, and a heart monitor. I learned my lesson!
When I went into DKA I don’t remember what it was…so high that the doctor said " One more hour and I would have died", on my meter I have gone to 600 (hi). Not in a VERY long time!! Than goodness! When I was sick in Oct and Nov it went to 500, a few times.
When I was pregnant with my last baby I went to my OB for my regular glucose test that all soon-to-be-moms get at about 6 months. I warned them that I had gestational diabetes with baby #2 and maybe we should check my sugars through the entire pregnancy…naa, I would be find with just the regular test at 6 months. Later that day I got a call from the ER, yes, the ER called ME…Telling me to get my butt there as fast as I could because my blood sugar was near 800.
Since then, My readings have gone beyond what meter can read, but that’s usually just when I’m sick.
It took me a while to discover that when my meter said “hi” it was not saying hello…LOL
