Would you use a local retail pharmacy for your pump supplies?

Hi all, just curious if anyone would use a retail (independent) pharmacy to purchase pump supplies from. If anyone currently uses a local pharmacy I would love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly of it.
Thanks for any input
Leah

I use Safeway Pharmacy ( Canada ) and the good is : we collect airmiles and do they add up  . Have to give them at least one week warning, when I order sensors …they do not keep them in stock …never been a problem …nothing bad/ugly to report .Actually because of our Pharmacare coverage , Medtronic recommends to order through a Pharmacy … I live in British Columbia…the answer to your question may not be relevant ??

We do not - we use A+ medical for all our D supplies, insulin, syringes, strips, and now pump supplies too . . .it is all covered under our DME and we have no co-insurance or cap after we meet our deductible. SO I have NOT paid for any D supplies since Sept. The DME also covered the pump 100% so both my DH and DD got a pump all within this past month. (Well I am waiting to be exact for the UPS truck tomorrow or Thursday!!!)

If you would like more info about a+ - let me know . . .

I’d like to know more!

I would LOVE to have that option…I HATE mail order rx…HATE it…for MANY reasons…but alas–I’ve no choice :frowning:

I would love to be able to just call my pharmacy and order supplies. According to Anthem Blue Preferred, they actually are listed as a DME for the supplies but, when I called them, they said they no longer carry the supplies. So now I am stuck with Edge Park in Illinois and still have to order by mail. Unfortunately, when I got my pump, they lied about who could supply my supplies. If I had gone with Edge Park right away, I would have saved almost $1,000 because Edge Park is in-network and I would only have had to meet my deductible…which I always do within the first few months of the year. I also am required to pre-pay for the supplies and then have to submit to the insurance company for reimbursement. I have more ugly news with mail order and the screw-ups.

Hope this is helpful.

I have good insurance, but they use Medco for our pharmaceutical needs. However, Medco does not carry Infusion sets or Reservoirs, so I have to get that stuff from Medtronics. My insurance does cover it though, and I get 3 months at a time.

Hello! I use Walgreens Pharmacy. I LOVE them! My husband is active duty army and it’s easy for me to pick up and move and vet my RX on the other end. I refuse mail order! I would rather go to a local pharmacy since my med’s are subject to change at any given time.

I use edge park, they are in network for me, and it works out pretty well. However I notice CVS just bought out my insulin supplier, so CVS is contemplating offering the three month supply right at the pharmacy window. I like my three month supplies, I built two rooms on to hold them all.
