Infusion sets

Why do you need to decide, Amy? Other than not wanting to order too many of something you end up not liking. I just ordered three months of the Inset (but in 23 and 43 inch tubing) because the Animas staff all told me that unless I was very active or a child (I’m neither) that would be right for me. I’m having a lot of problems with it and am thinking of trying something else. Since my first three months were included with my pump I’m not too bothered if I end up finding something I like better. What I’m learning about the insets and everything else regarding the pump is you really don’t know what works for you and what gives you problems until you try it for a period of time. I’ve been following what everyone says when I post about problems, but in the end it will be experience that shows what works for me.

About the phone, isn’t their a device you can get that amplifies the sound on the phone for people with hearing problems?

Zoe those devices are expensive and I make 8.30/hr. I dont have any funds to really get any of those devices. Plus I really hate using the phones anyways. The devices use to be cheaper when I was younger but not anymore. A tty cost like over 500 dollars. I can’t afford 500 dollars. I have used Massrehab here in my state but they paid for me to take the CNA class and they can pay for newer hearing aids but anything else they can’t help on (I asked as I was wondering about rental assistance).

hairdryer for the cleos? ooh, wish i had one. the 10 second thing really seems to help, i do that too. and i use skin tac and make sure it’s totally dry first. but i can’t get medical tape, bandaids or IV3000 to stick well either, so it’s not just the cleos for me.

i’m afraid i didn’t find any good videos for the inset 30. sorry

Its ok Marti…the Inset one was VERY helpful. Plus the person who did that video was the person on here that I commented on her ping being polka dotted! I wished I could remember her user name on here so I can thank her for wonderful videos.

ask the CDE if there is a local rep for the orbits… a sales rep often will be able to get you stuff because they are trying to drive the sales.
when i wanted a cable for my one touch meter i couldn’t afford it so my doctor called the rep and said if they didn’t give me one then he’d put me on a different meter. they brought one for me and one for the office to use to download my meter at visits. [and to make it easier for my doc to prescribe it to other patients]

by the way, i like working with pumpsit suppliers because i can email them for orders.

I just emailed my CDE about it. Perhaps she can help me get one for Tuesday so I am able to try it. And if so, I can see if I like it or not.

ooo thanks! I’ll email them right now and see what I can find out.

Hi Amy - Here’s a good site to start with - http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_technology/infusion_sets.php#axzz1ClSrENst - I’m sure there are others. Basically the Animas pump should work with any luer lock set. If they’re not giving out free ones, I would order 1 box from whomever your insurance says you can. I got many free samples from Orbit so I can’t think why they have stopped giving them away - unless it’s demand!

Good luck!

By the way, I’m still on autoship with Animas for their cartridges.

I’ve seen the infusion sets from that site before. I’ve heard more about the insets, cleao and orbit the most that people prefer.

I use the straight Inset with 9mm cannula and 23" tubing, I tried the longer tubing but found it to be too long. The IVPrep wipes are good. I have never had a need for the IV3000 or the adhesive remover.

That’s too bad, Amy, but it’s great you were able to get the CNA class paid for. I actually hate phones too and much prefer e-mail; I work a lot at home and the phone always feels like an interruption. I don’t have an excuse I just dislike the darn things (I don’t own a cell phone)

They paid for my state test that I am still waiting for the date. So I am lucky that if this career doesn’t working out, I’m not out of money like all the other education I’ve gotten. Due to budget they only can help you so much. So I do avoid the phone if I can. But sometimes I cant and I’m like arg.

I love everything I can order online! I order all my meds that way and now will use the animas website. After living five years in a rural area and 2 in a third world country, I got pretty used to shopping online!

I prefer to shop online…there is something about staying inside on a cold day and click of a mouse to order stuff. I plan to order stuff from animas as well.

You’re lucky they gave you an option. They just picked mine out for me! I’m kind of ticked about that but it’s okay for now I found a spot these will work okay for me. I’ll order the smaller ones later… In my opinion, it would be good to have two different types on hand depending on the site you are using for that time.

I am happy about that. I hate when I have only one option to use.
