Removing pods

has anybody else had issues of removing the pod I have had the tape sticking to me numerous times and it hurts peeling it off. are there any quick fixes without having to go to the doctor? Thanks in advance!

I don't have a quick fix, but a few things have helped me avoid some of the pain.

First, I make sure the tape is wet so either just out of the shower (I think the steam helps, too) or by covering it with oil of some kind. Second, I pull up a tiny bit of tape and get my finger under it. By keeping a finger on the skin and pulling little by little, I can usually lessen the pain pretty significantly.

Hope that helps!

I know what you mean. I don’t currently wear the pod but I remember how painful it was to pull it off of the back of my upper arm. I learned something simple that dramatically reduced the pain. Once I have the edge of the tape slightly pulled away from the skin using the thumb and index finger, I use the backs of the remaining fingers to push the skin away from the adhesive.

In other words, I push the skin away from the tape instead of pulling the tape off of the skin. I don’t know how to describe it better but it made for a relatively painless removal. Good luck. I’ll be interested to read if this helps you, too.

I think you said it much better than I did, Terry. I imagine that's exactly what I do.

I have never used a pod so I don’t know if you can access the adhesive to use a product such as Unisolve. You can buy Unisolve in a bottle or more conveniently in a box of 50 wipes. I’ve never needed it to remove a pump or CGM site but I have used it to remove the extra sticky residue left over from some medical tapes.

Thanks guys I will try all of these, I never have any problems with my tummy but always have problems with my arms.

I have a Medtronic pump and, when the sets are stuck on the *TMI ALERT* hairier parts of my abdomen, I rip them off in the shower w/ soap.

I have tried ripping them off and that just takes a layer of skin off the back of arm, so I am going to try taking a shower and taking it off. And try the taking my finger underneath it… if that doesn’t work I guess back to doc…

PS can you buy unisolve over the counter?

We use Detachol to remove my son's pods and Dex sensors. It is pricey but we buy it from Amazon and a little goes a long way. Good luck!

Ok cool deal thanks

We use Unisolve pads or Relia Med Adhesive remover pads to remove the pods off my daughther. A quick swipe and the pod comes off pretty easy. I will admit that it still does leave some adhesive on the skin. We asked our doctor and she suggested Detachol. Our insurance company pays for the Unisolve and Relia Med brand. We have to call and ask about Detachol before we order that online.
We have friends who have said they use baby oil to remove their son's pod but that has not worked well for us.
