@bort269 I see back in December '21 you said you got the Stealth Holster and would report back. Do you still use it? Does it have a spring load clip and does it stay clipped to clothing? As a female, it must clip to a thinner waist band than some guys wear, at least sometimes. I am getting the Tandem pump and see that the one that comes with it is impossible to secure with just walking around. Thanks.
@Blueburd So far so good!
It’s very sturdy and the clip stays very tight to clothes.
I don’t think it’s spring loaded:
The only downside is that you have to take it off when changing your cartridge, but that doesn’t bother me at all.
Well, phooey. I have looked at all the clip photos in this thread, at their links. The HipClip seems to be the most popular although I am not sure how secure it is since it is just a shove-on clip with no spring load pressure. And I am not sure how much I want to display my screen to the world whenever my blouse or tshirt is tucked into my jeans or cotton slacks. Wearing it face in on my skin does not sound good either. So, maybe back to a pocket. Already a too big iphone in one.
whine, whine. I guess I will go with the clip the x2 comes with for a while. I found the t:holster rotating clip once or twice but now have lost it on amazon. Some reviews said it did not last as long as it should.
So, pay $30+tax every 6 to 12 months for a case/clip that rotates but is temporary may be worth it?
I am just thinking aloud!! No worries.
Oh, one of my pet peeves is that black products are just blobs of black. I can’t see details and they rarely show the backside or edges. I feel like I am ordering a ‘pig in a poke’. To make it a complete whine this rainy day in my part of the world.
I have little pockets sewn into my slacks pockets. This way my pump stays up near the top and won’t sink to the bottom where other things like keys can scratch it.
When I wear more casual pants that have the vertical pockets with vertical zippers half way down the side of my thigh, are also good for my pump.
I got the idea because some pants have these small pockets in pockets already done for no reason I can think
Also the small pocket in jeans also works great for pumps.
@Blueburd I can vouch for the Type 1 tactical cases. They are rock solid and sturdy as heck. I have several (I like the variety) and they have all taken a beating over the last few years yet my pump still looked brand new when it came time to replace it.
Some people wrap a rubber band around the clip of the case that the pump comes with and find that sufficient to keep the pump from falling off one’s waistband. I currently have a new Type 1 Tactical case and like it for a couple of reasons. I can charge the pump while in the case. The case never falls off my waistband. It is easy to remove the pump from the case so sometimes I use the case and sometimes I don’t. For example I sleep in athletic shorts that have a slip pocket in the waistband and I tuck the pump in there. What I don’t like about the Type 1 Tactical case is that as a woman it is bulkier than I prefer. It works absolutely the best when attached to a belt, but I never wear a belt except when I hike.
I used a Hip Clip for years but got tired of it being permanent. It kept falling off my waistband when I hiked but I couldn’t use a sturdier case because of the clip.
I still miss the clip that attached to my Animas pump….
I’ve been using my NiteIze Hip lip for about 3.5 years now, and still loving it. I’ve got a few other cases with clips, both from Tandem, and the NiteIze one is by far my favorite. (I’m way too cheap to pay $60+ to put a case on a pump that offers free in-warranty refinements!) It’s slimmer and holds firmer. It can grip a single layer of t-shirt material tight. It even hangs on the slippery shower curtain when I take a bath. I can hang it from the bottom of a shirt, but I’ve got to fold the hem over to give it a little more to grip to. The pumps just to heavy for that, otherwise. I’ve even transferred it to a replacement pump. It still grips awesome.
I have had my Tandem since November and this case from Tandem has been really solid. It must be new, but so far so good.
@Terry4 If I were heading a design team at any of these pump companies, I would want pump user engineers and designers on my team. I would have no problem with them using the competitions’ pumps. They would be free to make comments and suggestions as well as to have free use of our product.
The t:Holster is actually basically what I have with the setup I have posted previously about, except with what I have you can actually remove the clip to make the pump slimmer for putting in a pocket or anything else you might not want the bulk of a clip. As far as I can tell the clip isn’t removable on the t:holster.
I don’t attach the HipClip to the outside of the silicone case. I tried that and eventually every adhesive I tried failed. I put the clip through the cartridge opening, curved part outside, flat “leg” inside, and apply RTV between the leg and case. For thinner backed cases I attach a steel disc from a magnetic cellphone holder inside the case first, and attach the clip to that. Any wear from rubbing is on the cartridge.
