The more the merrier!! It would be good to have a bunch of Tu folks there, although these days I'm sort of all over the place as I suppose I'm more out of the D-Closet than I used to be on FB and have gotten connected to some IRL buddies too. I'm looking forward to it after the call last week and hearing about the plans.
Can one camp in the desert somewhere for free? Never been to Vegas before.
The Flamingo is in Theodore of the strip so you’d have to rent a car or bike to get there. I dunno how much camping there is as I’m not a camper and Begas isn’t exactly what I think of when I think of camping but you never know.
I'm in - can't wait :-) Hope to meet lots of fellow Diabetics!!
Susan
Fun Scarletto! I’ll be there, I know some other Tu folks are in too!!
I've got my trip all booked. I'll be arriving Thursday night and leaving Monday morning. Is anyone else arriving early or leaving late? I'm not that interested in gambling but would would love to go out eat food, see sights and heckle the pirates at Treasure Island.
I finally registered for the Diabetes UnConference yesterday. I can't wait!!!
Wow! Fun! A Coup de Tu!! The dance contest is over!!
Brian: I'm getting in at 10:50 on Friday so I'll be able to freshen up before the evening's festivities get going. I'm hoping for a pool weather heatwave but I dunno if that's gonna happen. I'm not much of a gambler either, although with March Madness going on, I can park myself in a sports book and watch basketball and kibbitz too. "$5 he makes this free throw..." sort of bets during games can be fun!
Walking around Vegas is a hoot.
I get into LAS at 8:25 a.m. on Friday and depart Sunday evening. Would be nice to get together Friday. I'm up for my usual activities, eat, walk and talk!
I arrive thurs, leave monday. But have family in LV and still working out details on where I'll be when.
Trying to get more info on what the event for friday is, and what time. Anyone know ?
On my phone, I can find that there’s a special event about diabetes advocacy, hosted by Manny Hernandez and Bennett Dunlap. The Unconferencing is mostly Saturday. I had in my head that there was a festive element to Friday, maybe sponsored by Tslim!?
You are right, this is a friday evening event, I don't know what time it starts.
Thanks, I did see something about Advocacy, but not Tslim, or time. Hope there are more details regarding the times/locations at some point.
I also saw mention of 'limited' tickets for friday, and extra tickets being no longer available. So if I decide not to attend 'whatever' the ticket is for, I'd offer it up to someone in need.Have a wonderful time everyone; even if the only thing you get out of the conference (hopefully it won't be!) is meeting other Tud'ers, that's worth the price of the planefare imho!
I agree Zoe! I've met a few Tu'ers in person and it's always an amusing time!
Re MM's comments as to the announcements, it must have been posted on FB which, astonishingly, has worse search capabilities than Tu's current platform.
Today is the last day to register, < 2 weeks until showtime! For those of you who are going, there's a FB group that's been assembled to "pregame". You should join the group and say "hi"! If you don't have a FB account, well, maybe get one? I was always very skeptical about FB but when they closed our office in 2009 and we had a sudden move, it involved unplugging from several communities and I signed up to stay in touch and it's a good tool for that. Although it has some strange elements to it, I think that for the conference, it's probably the best tool to use!!
Is the FB group working for you? I tried the link in the email I received this morning but nothing shows up.
I also got the link and it didn't work for me either.
Looking forward to this, and of course the non-D related activities, too. :)
I think because the group is secret, we can't see it unless we've been invited to it (through Facebook).
